Lately I have been doing some research into Tablet PCs. Technology has certainly changed a lot in the past 10 years! I have been wondering if it is worth it to get one of these tablet computers. There is a site that talks about all the Tablet PC software and news. Steve has a lap top that he would take to all of his real estate appointments so he could show his presentations. I just wonder if the Tablet PC would be better. It definitely would be a lot smaller. I am going to have to do some more research into it. | | Monday, May 5th, 2003 | | 9:33 am |
Steve’s web site has been getting so many leads for potential clients. Its search engine ranking has helped it so much. Before Steve left for the Middle East his real estate broker said that I could call and give him the leads and Steve would get a referral commission. So I have been calling with the leads, but often I can’t get a hold of the broker or he doesn’t do something about it for a few days, because it is not one of his top priorities. That has frustrated me, because these leads need to be dealt with immediately or the people will go to another web site and solicit those agents. We want to take advantage of this high search engine ranking so after talking to Steve we decided that I should get my real estate license. Each of those leads is potentially worth thousands of dollars for us, and since Steve obviously can’t do anything, then it would help if I could. I have started taking classes, but it will be probably at least a month before I am done. Once I do get my license I just want to deal with the leads from the web site and not do all the other stuff. I like being home with Mariane and I don’t want to have to go back to work full time. I hope that Steve will be able to come home soon so that I won’t have to do this for long. Steve is going to be moving into Baghdad soon. He hasn’t told me, because he is not “authorized” to tell me. But there is an imbedded reporter with his battalion so I watch the news and find out! | | Tuesday, April 29th, 2003 | | 1:34 pm |
The internet filtering system that i have been using has a lot of neat stuff. It has an email filter which makes it so that I don't get as much spam. It is also much better than my ISP at monitoring the computer and blocking porn. As a mom that is something I find important. I don't want my kids to be able to access that kind of stuff. | | Monday, April 28th, 2003 | | 11:35 am |
I have never been a day planner person. I try it for a while and then after a few weeks all my good ambitions fizzle out. I really need to get better about my time management. I have been doing a lot of goal setting lately and I think I need to be better about things before A lot of people have told me that they are very successful using palm pilots. I have been looking into some time management software. I like using computers so this may be more my thing. | | 11:07 am |
Mariane is finally better. I got the sickness, too, for a couple of days. Mine didn't last as long as Mariane's though. I am so glad that she feels better because I feel so bad when she is sick and I can't make it go away. | | Thursday, April 24th, 2003 | | 6:44 am |
Mariane is still so sick. Yesterday I had a hard time keeping her fever below 103 degrees. It was pretty scary. I gave her both Children's Motrin and Children's Tylenol, but nothing seemed to work. She just kept getting more and more despondent. I finally called the doctor, to see if he thought I should bring her in again. He said, not to because when I took her on Monday, she freaked out so bad...he didn't want to traumatize her for life. He did call in an antibiotic to the pharmacy though. She actually slept for five hours straight last night, which was nice. I guess I am learning what it is like for other moms out there...not getting very much sleep. She still has a fever this morning, but at least she is acting semi normal like wanting to play. The saddest part of this whole sickness is that Mariane keeps asking for her daddy. Steve has always been so good about taking care of Mariane when she is sick, like rocking her and stuff. Now she just wants her daddy to take care of her. Steve got word that he will likely be gone at least another 10 months...if not longer. | | Wednesday, April 23rd, 2003 | | 10:04 am |
I just finished reading this book on real estate investing called One Minute Millionaire. Robert Allen is one of the authors. It is a really cool book about how you can become a millionaire through real estate investing and other areas. The format is pretty cool on one side it tells the strategies and on the other page a story of a woman and how she earned 1 million in cash in 90 days. I think Steve would really like the book since he is a real estate agent and wants to do a lot of real estate investing. | | 8:35 am |
Mariane was up again all night. I feel so bad when she is sick and I can’t do anything about it. Since it is a virus, we just have to wait it out, but it is so frustrating, because it just seems to get worse. She has also been very clingy. She wants me to hold her all the time and if I leave the room she starts crying. It makes me sad. I showed Mariane her baby book yesterday. I told her about the day she was born and showed her pictures. She liked to hear it. But then when she saw Steve, she got really sad and started crying and said, “Papi, come home.” She really misses her daddy. Even though the war is coming to an end, it looks like Steve will still be over there for a long time. How do you explain to a one year old that her daddy won’t be coming home for a long time? We have tied yellow ribbons all around our house and we put out a flag every day. Now every time Mariane sees a flag she says, “flag. Papi.” She also now associates everything that is yellow with her daddy. | | Tuesday, April 22nd, 2003 | | 11:33 am |
Scrapbooking
I love scrapbooking. But I find that I never have the time, and when I do have the time, I can’t because Mariane tries to “help” me. I also have a hard time going to any scrapbooking store since Mariane is at that age where she wants to get into everything. I came across this website that gives scrapbooking ideas. It has clipart and journal resources and tons of other stuff. I like doing a lot of my scrapbooking on the computer, because I hate my handwriting I sometimes get to the point where my creative juices aren’t flowing. I am excited to try some of the ideas and see if I can catch up on Mariane’s baby book. The site also has a message board. I only read a few of the messages, but I think it will be a great resource of idea.s | | 11:12 am |
Mariane has been very sick the past few days. She woke up the other day in the middle of the night so I went to see what was wrong. She felt really hot so I took her temperature. It was 104.7 degrees. I immediately gave her a luke warm bath to drop her temperature and gave her some mortin. Even took her to the after hours clinic. I guess she just has some virus. Her coughing sure sounds pretty nasty though. | | Friday, April 18th, 2003 | | 9:58 am |
Mariane has been pretty wild the past little while. I feel like all I do is chase her from place to place. She is quite the sprinter. Lately I have been putting pigtails in her hair. People always tell her how cute she looks when she is wearing the pigtails, so now she wants to have "piggies." She is so funny because she will come and cry until I put them in her hair, but then after about ten minutes she will pull them out. So then we go through this cycle about 30 times a day. | | Thursday, April 17th, 2003 | | 11:08 am |
Search Engine Optimization
Before my husband left with the National Guard to go take part in this war, he had just started selling real estate. He only did it a few weeks before he left, so he didn’t get much of a chance to do much with it, but he did set up a web site. We knew that if he wanted to get much business from the web site, he would need to get a high ranking on the different search engines. When most people do a search for something on the internet they usually only look at the first few sites. We wanted to get the most business we could from his site. I work for a web marketing company. The information I have learned while working for 10xmarketing.com has helped us to get a fabulous ranking! When we first launched the site we were ranked 158 for our target keywords on google. With the knowledge I have gained from this internet marketing company we have jumped to number one! After only one week our ranking jumped to 84. After the first month we were down to 56 and then by the end of the second month we had reached number 2. Now we are number one and we are trying to get our other target keywords to number one as well (these ones are ranked in the top 10). Now we get several leads from the website every week. And my husband isn’t even here to do anything. Once he gets home from the war, I think we will get tons more leads because his website will be changing all the time with his new leads. If you are interested in search engine ranking for your website, you should definitely try this company! They are totally worth it. The best part is that with all these leads that we are getting now, I can give them to Steve’s broker, who then gives us the referral fee. We are making money, while Steve is doing nothing! | | Wednesday, April 16th, 2003 | | 1:32 pm |
Last night I Had an appointment so I asked Michael, my brother, to watch Mariane. I told her that he was going to come over and watch her. Mariane said, “yeah. Bikal (that is how she says his name.” She clapped while she said it. When he got here to watch her, Mariane all of a sudden started crying and grabbing on to my dress. I think she knew that I was going to leave. All of a sudden Michael said, “Mariane, come play monsters with me.” Mariane call s the game, Zelda, monsters for some reason. She really likes the game, not necessarily to play, but to watch. As soon as he said that, Mariane started clapping and said, “yeah, Monsters.” Then she turned to me and said, “bye.” and then ran into the room where the video games. It was pretty funny. | | Monday, April 14th, 2003 | | 11:22 am |
I told my brother-in-law about that online DNA testing kit. He is not sure he wants to do it. He has been seeing his “daughter” and she believes that he is her daddy and he loves her like a daughter. He is afraid that if he does a paternity test and finds out that he is not the father that it could harm her psychologically. He doesn’t want to do that to her, so has just planned to accept the fact that he is the father. | | 10:48 am |
Mariane woke up last night and wouldn’t go back to sleep. She never does that! I know that I am lucky because she is normally such a good sleeper. I put her down for the night at 6:00 p.m. and she usually sleep until 6:30 or 7:00 the next morning. It is really nice to have her sleep so well. She has been a good sleep since she was bon. I think she takes after her daddy, because I certainly am not a good sleeper. Anyway, I got her out of bed and she said, “rockie.” Meaning that she wanted me to rock her. That was nice too, because normally she doesn’t like to rock or cuddle so it was fun. I talked softly to her and she just laid on me. I didn’t know if she had fallen back to sleep but I just kept talking to her and telling her how much I love her and how glad I am that she is my daughter. I started telling her about when she was born and how I had to have a c-section. When I told her that her papi was the first person to hold her and he helped to clean her up, she all of a sudden jumped up and started jabbering about papi. It was so cute. She really is a daddy’s girl! | | Friday, April 11th, 2003 | | 12:58 pm |
I just discovered the coolest thing! I don't know about anyone else, but I hate it when I am searching on the Internet and those pop up ads keep appearing. They are so annoying. I found this internet filter company that provides a popup killer service. It has been so nice to be on the internet without having all the stupid ads appear! | | 8:28 am |
Mariane got to talk to her papi this morning. It was really funny to watch her. She took the cordless phone and walked all over the house as she jabbered away. It was really funny to watch her. I should have taken a picture! I guess she learned it from me. Mariane’s favorite movie right now is “The Jungle Book.” She calls it “sessies.” That stands for necessities from the song the Bare Necessities. She will come and grab onto my pants and keep saying “sessies, pease” until I put it on. Then she will say, “ank you.” It is so cute watching her try and communicate. | | Thursday, April 10th, 2003 | | 9:30 am |
Mariane and I have been dealing with power struggles today. She doesn't want to do anything that I ask her. I have tried giving her choices so she feels like she is in control, but all she does is scream "no." Time out doesn't work either. I feel so frustrated. How do you get a nearly two year old to do what you want? | | Wednesday, April 9th, 2003 | | 10:14 am |
We just had a scary experience?.Mariane was playing on the computer. She has a little learning computer game that she likes to play. I left the room for a few minutes. Meanwhile she had started messing around with the mouse and somehow opened up the bottom part and removed the ball. I came back a few minutes later and heard her choking. She had put the ball in her mouth and tried to swallow it, I guess. It took a few seconds to get it out, which scared me to death. Luckily it didn?t get stuck and it popped out. I guess it is time for a mouse that doesn?t have a ball. My brother-in-law is going through this paternity thing. Before he married Steve?s sister, I guess he was pretty promiscuous. Some lady came to him not long ago and claimed that her 8 year old daughter is his. He just took her word on it and started paying child support. He also got some visitation rights. I don?t think she looks anything like him, especially since he is Mexican and has very dark skin. She is very pale and the only thing she got from him, if she is his daughter, is the dark hair. His other two kids are both very dark and look just like him. I think he should get a DNA test to see if he really is the biological father. I found this site that does DNA testing over the internet. I think I will suggest it to him. | | 8:58 am |
While visiting with some friends yesterday, I remembered something that Mariane did a few weeks ago that I thought would be funny to write about. We had just arrived home and I told her to go inside through the garage. I had to get something out of the car. I saw her bend down and pick something up, so I went to go see what she was doing. She kept saying, "kitty." I looked at her hand to see what she was holding. I was horrified to see that she had a mouse in her hand. I screamed and tried to get her to let go. She just held on tighter. I had to shake her hand over and over to get her to finally let it go. When she finally let go I ran screaming into the house. Steve, who was still at home then, came to see what was the matter. I told him to go see if the mouse was still there, while I cleaned Mariane up and looked to see if it had bitten her. Steve came in a few minutes later and told me that the mouse was dead.. So I don't know if the mouse was already dead or if Mariane squeezed it so hard that she killed it, but it makes for a funny story! |
